In a bid to save State money, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has stretched a new plan to replace textbooks with Internet lessons.
The actor-turned-politician is facing a budget shortfall of 24.3 billion dollars, and has said that a shift to online study would also keep pupils more up to date.
The ‘Terminator’ star believes that online activities like Facebook, Twitter and downloading to portable devices demonstrate that young people are ready to learn from the internet.
A world of up-to-date information fits easily into their pockets and onto their computer screens, the Telegraph quoted him as having written in the San Jose Mercury News.
He added: So why are Californias public school students still forced to lug around antiquated, heavy, expensive textbooks? California is home to software giants, bioscience research pioneers and first-class university systems known around the world, but our students still learn from instructional materials in formats made possible by Gutenbergs printing press.”
Last year California spent 350 million dollars on textbooks, which made Schwarzenegger to sign an executive order to scrap funding on contracts from March.
August onwards, high school maths and science students will be offered educational materials online and the opportunity to use digital readers, which can hold the equivalent of 160 books.

Hasn`t our cinema grown up? Yes, there`re kissing scenes in the film. But nothing to make me squirm. In fact I`d be more than happy and completely comfortable watching those kissing scenes with my wife, son and parents when the film is released.
Elucidating the need to view lip-locking in a rational manner, Hrithik said, Kites is a love story. It’s about people in love. And what do people in love do to express their mutual feelings? In fact it was Barbara Mori who made me realize how silly we look on screen while shying away from expressing love naturally.
Incidentally, this took place when Hrithik and Barbara were shooting a dangerous action scene in Santa Fe.
The actor maintained, We were both supposed to jump off from a rooftop at an impossible height. Before we did so our director Anurag Basu suggested I kiss Barbara since we were doing something dead-defying and dangerous and potentially lethal. I reached out and kissed her on the cheeks. Barbara turned around to ask why I had kissed her on the cheek. `Given the same situation with your real-life wife Sussanne would you kiss her on the cheek?` I was floored by her logic.
Hrithik added, And this time I kissed her the way real-life couples would in the situation. On the lips.
Hmm, carry on Hrithik because that’s what we call realism in cinema.

As a pastor and a former Miss California, I am often asked to interpret what the Word of God has to say on a particular subject. I am quite confident that God prefers that we human beings stick to speaking for ourselves. And yet there are occasions when God’s Word is used as a weapon, and I feel compelled to speak.
In the past few days, much has been made of the words of Miss California USA, Carrie Prejean. She stated that marriage is between a man and a woman. I write not in response to her opinion, but rather about her comments that followed: that the Bible condones her words. She said, s not about being politically correct, its about being biblically correct. While this sentiment is shared by many who seek to condemn gay people and gay marriage, citing pieces of the Bible to further one’s own prejudice fails to meet the Bible on its own terms.
Most people seeking to condemn gay people point to the Book of Leviticus, where we read that men lying with men is an abomination. However, we rarely hear of other verses found in the book of Leviticus that are equally challenging. For example, Leviticus also tells us that eating shrimp and lobster is an abomination. And that a person should not wear material woven of two kinds of material—an impossible mandate for a pageant contestant!
In Paul’s letter to the community in Corinth we read, ‘For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church….’ And yet these words have not prevented Christian denominations from ordaining women, such as myself. Sadly, the Bible has been used to further prejudice throughout history. We have used it to permit ourselves to enslave people; to conquer and kill; and to denigrate the earth.
The truth is that it is difficult to know for sure the intentions of the biblical authors, but we do know something about God. Those of us who know God through Jesus of Nazareth know that he went to great lengths to express God’s love to people who were labeled as outcasts. He spent time with children, prostitutes, and lepers, all of whom were labeled as outside of the grasp of the Holy. As we continue to seek God’s vision for us as a nation grounded in a love for justice, I pray that we might move closer to the cause of grace.

Lindsay Lohan is ready to get her career back on track following her tumultuous break-up with DJ Samantha Ronson.

I feel like I want to get my career back in shape, the actress told Ellen during a candid interview for Thursdays The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
When people are together so much it gets really difficult and you forget who you are because youre more concerned about being with the other person. I think its been really good for me. I thought it would be so much harder and it hasnt been.

In Lindsays first TV interview since her split with Sam, the actress revealed to Ellen that the break-up came out of the blue.

* I think that break-ups are hard when youre a private person, Ellen said.

Or when you dont know youre breaking up really weird, Lindsay responded.

* Did you not know you were breaking up? Ellen quickly asked.

I had no idea what was going on. I just hadnt seen her in like, a week. She like, disappeared, Lindsay said.

The actress also revealed that the news of Sams family including the DJs twin sister Charlotte visiting a local police station to ask about a restraining order after the break-up, came as a shock.

I was like, I dont understand, Lindsay told Ellen. It came out of nowhere. Ive supported Charlotte and Ive never done anything for people to assume Im dangerous.


Lindsay also told Ellen that the tabloid and Internet interest in the end of their romance has gotten completely blown out of proportion.

When asked if she was having a hard time coping with the break-up and the stress that has since followed, Lindsay said she is doing surprisingly well.

I dont know what happened but everything fell into place and everything is really moving and going on and it feels really good, she said.

I didnt get into this business to be a celebrity on the cover of tabloids and Ive been a target and Im not that interesting. It distracts people studio heads, everyone, and they get nervous. Ive been through a lot. I was 19-years-old when things happened and Im ready to work. Im responsible and I can be on time and I learn from my mistakes.

A woman who used the micro-blogging network to announce her plans to commit suicide by tweeting actress Demi Moore was later found by authorities and taken in for evaluation after followers of the actress reported the incident to police, who said this is an unprecedented use of the network.
Known only by her Twitter username, the Silicon Valley, Calif., resident wrote a message to Moore early Friday morning detailing the way in which she was planning to take her life.

National Geographic: Locked Up Abroad Season Premiere
The season premiere of National Geographic: Locked Up Abroad aired Wednesday, April 01, 2009 on the National Geographic Channel.  Locked Up Abroad is a documentary-style series that focuses on foreigners traveling who break local laws in other countries and must pay the consequences; mostly, they have committed drug-related crimes.
The first episode of National Geographic: Locked Up Abroad this season is titled, “National Geographic - Locked up Abroad: Cuzco,” and featured two British citizens, who were arrested for trying to smuggle a suitcase of Cocaine out of Peru.
In the episode, Sarah is a part-hardy attic who is trying to pay off debts to her dealers by taking on the smuggling mission.  She gets an innocent man, Simon, involved by trying to implicate him for his innocent looks, as a cover.  Unaware of her intentions, Simon takes the bait.  They are both caught and locked up for several months while awaiting charges.  Eventually, Sarah admits the truth, and Simon is freed.
A new episode of National Geographic: Locked Up Abroad will air every Wednesday at 10:00pm on the National Geographic Channel.  The following episode guide features all the National Geographic: Locked Up Abroad episodes for this season that are strictly drug-related:

Football flash in the pan turned b-movie actor Brian The Boz Bosworth is out on $5,000 bail following a DUI arrest. According to TMZ, Bosworths motorcycle was pulled over around 3am when police noticed he didnt have a license plate. Refusing to take a breathalyzer, he was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk.
Bosworth first gained infamy as a linebacker for the University of Oklahoma Sooners, when he unveiled a National Communists Against Athletes t-shirt during the 1987 Orange Bowl (he was kept out of the game due to steroid use).
