If you went down to Birmingham Town Hall today you were sure of a big surprise as Paul Murphy and the Destroyers performed the premiere of a new folk opera called Tweedeleededeedee - Sir Ru Barb and the Green Wolf. The work is the creation of Birmingham based musician / song writer Paul Murphy, the story growing from a single song that Paul wrote around 40 years ago. His more recent collaborations with the carnivalesque and musically accomplished band The Destroyers, actually better described as a mini orchestra, specifically with one of their members Frank Moon who wrote the score and also with artist Paul Nocher who created the animation projected on a huge screen over the stage, have led to the creation of this unique theatrical production.
To the amusement and captivation of the Saturday morning Birmingham Town Hall audience of grand parents, parents and most importantly children, the event kicked off with an interactive workshop led from the stage by The Destroyers which had us all standing up at various points to join in with the creation of clapping-rhythms and songs with gestures in the genre of heads, shoulders, knees and toes. Not only an unexpected keep fit session but also a clever introduction to how The Destroyers use their wide array of instruments to build up layers of rhythm and melody starting with guitars, bass and percussion, adding tuba, accordion, clarinet then brass and hurdy gurdy, the music getting louder and faster as the layers build. My name is Joe and I work in the button factory seemed to be an instant hit with both kids and adults alike. I was reminded of that great LP for children, Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf where each instrument represented a character in the story, ok, not to that extent today but I certainly felt there was a similar orchestral familiarisation process here.
After the break we were into the main event with the sublime Destroyers vocalist, Leo Alterelli, acting and singing the part of Sir Ru Barb whom, in the style of the most gripping folk fables which begin 'on a dark and stormy night', becomes foster parent to a mutant infant peculiarly named Raleigh, played by Paul Murphy. The infant is left at Ru Barb's door by the foreboding Green Wolf who stealthily delivers his package then slinks back into the shadowy trees which are characteristic of Nocher's scenery. The ensuing tale is one of strange characters and mythical archetypes with both traditional and modern references, as Sir Ru Barb and his intriguing traveling companion, the endearing little Raleigh with his wheel shaped feet and odd headgear looking strangely similar to a 21st century cycling helmet, venture into the famous Jigsaw Town and beyond to the Purple Kingdom in pursuit of the Green Wolf and the bird of peace, Tweedeleededeedee.
Being a morality tale, it seemed most apt therefore to see this one-off performance so close to Christmas. Far from being a modern departure from pantomime, on the contrary, this style of theatre was arguably panto's ancestor.
Whilst good eventually triumphs over evil, it is not before our hero and his innocent companion together struggle with darker forces, such as the bizarre tv game show host who not only rigs the show so that Sir Ru Barb is plunged into Jigsaw Ravine but, more despicable still, hoodwinks us, the audience, into colluding with this fiendish plot. We was duped your honour!
The Purple King too, would also have had us collude with the downfall of our heroes and eventually turns out to be an usurper and pretender for the crown. But all ends well when it turns out that the stolen infant, Raleigh, is actually the true and rightful heir and Tweedeleededeedee the bird of peace is released from her cage.
One might draw all kinds of different threads from Murphy's myth embroidered tapestry. Raleigh's story has parallels with Moses in the Bulrushes or Silas Marner perhaps? Sir Ru Barb could have been a knight of any table, round or otherwise and the two together being Quixote and Sancho on a bicycle. The whole effect had a strangely East European feel and some scenes were surreal enough to fit perfectly into an episode of Dr Who. A veritable winter's brew of theatrical story telling, the Town Hall should consider making this a regular seasonal slot.
A rich and colourful tale which is unashamedly dark in good measure, a style of story telling whose roots are in the tradition of folk mythology which existed for centuries, long before Walt Disney and friends came along to brighten up and sanitise every good kiddie's yarn ever passed on ...of a dark and stormy night.
Brilliant music, rather good animation and a bit of participatory musical education chucked in as extra value. It will be interesting to see where this might emerge in the future, I hope it's not a one-off performance but if it is then those of us who witnessed it can say we enjoyed something a little more authentic than that which we can expect to nod off to on the Disney Channel this Christmas.
Long live Sir Ru Barb and Tweedeleededeedee!

Cheech and Chong had their homework cut out for them in preparing for their big reunion tour. It had been 23 years since the release of their last album – 1985’s “Get Out of My Room,” which featured the single “Born in East L.A.” – and they’d pretty much forgotten all their classic comedic bits.
“We had to go on YouTube and find out what our act used to be,” Tommy Chong admitted to the crowd on Saturday night (Nov. 22) at the Berkeley Community Theatre.
The duo obviously put a lot of effort into its studies. Cheech and Chong’s approximately 90-minute concert served as a fine stroll down Mary Jane Memory Lane, through many of the jokes, gags and bits from their classic albums and films of the ‘70s and early ‘80s. The show drew big laughs from the stoner-humor fan base, of which there is apparently a very sizable contingent in the Bay Area.

If you are renting an instrument from the school (Tuba / Baritone / French Horn) you must submit your $125 rental fee to the school as soon as possible. There will also be a rental form for you to sign, which indicates the serial number and make of the instrument you have. Please get the fee and form into the school as soon as possible. This fee covers repairs and upkeep on the instruments.
There is also a $35 percussion fee that helps to offset the costs of replacement equipment and providing mallets and auxilliary instruments for our percussion students. This fee may also be submitted as soon as possible.
McLean students in Grade Six are provided with instruments at no charge, due to the nature of the manditory band program at that school. An instrument loan form will be given to those students to ensure that the parents / teacher know which instrument (make / serial number) each student has.
Thanks.

Stravinsky was seldom the best conductor of his own music, but this disc of his three symphonies is an exception. In the first place, none of them are all that difficult to conduct--at least compared to some of his earlier works--and he seems to have been in particularly good form throughout these recording sessions. He gets a particularly enthusiastic response from his Canadian forces in the Symphony of Psalms--one of this century's great choral masterworks, and seems to really enjoy the neo-classical elegance of the Symphony in C. Of all of the individual releases from Sony's complete Stravinsky edition, this one has pride of place. --David Hurwitz

When Cirque du Soleil first ventured beyond Canada's borders, its powerful, singularly ambitious "reinvention of the circus" seemed quixotic. Inspired by European precedents, this was a big top downsized to a more intimate, single ring, as the French-Canadian troupe jettisoned animals, banished the usual fright-wigged clowns in favor of funny folks versed in (gulp) pantomime, and focused on acrobats, contortionists, and illusionists. Conventional wisdom would have held that such esoterica was doomed, but anyone lucky enough to catch that initial Cirque production (or, for that matter, any of its subsequent offerings) knows just how wrong conventional wisdom can be.
Cirque's creative brain trust, including "guide" Guy Laliberte and director Franco Dragone, have crafted each production as an extended performance piece framed by recurrent characters, unified production design, and underlying themes. Already mesmerizing visual tableaux and astonishing illusions are given an added poignancy (and, occasionally, true gravity) by the productions' underlying comments about society, conformity, beauty, and emotion; even without such conscious motifs, however, Cirque's sheer artistry is never less than riveting.
Quidam revolves around an Everychild, living with self-absorbed (and deliberately archetypal) parents, who's whisked away to a vividly surreal world where Cirque's remarkable acrobats and artists take literal flight. Their tools are often prosaic--oversized flying rings, an open steel wheel large enough for a single inhabitant, skateboards, ropes--yet the resulting images are stunning. Injecting further drama and atmosphere is the score (here by musical director Benoit Jutras), which is as far removed from traditional circus music as Cirque's "acts" are from Barnum Bailey. Performed with synthesizers, electric guitar, solo reed instruments, percussion, and voice (often singing in a kind of Esperanto that's tantalizing yet foreign), Cirque's music can be dismissed as New Age only until heard in its intended context.
Like three earlier video productions, Quidam can't quite achieve the sheer, enveloping wonder that its theatrical source does. But for fans of Cirque du Soleil's unique performance art, this latest presentation sustains the troupe's magic.

PERU: AND THE INCAS A TRIP OF A LIFE-TIME
A good turn-out of Probus Members, together with two guests, gathered in the Coleshill Hotel on Tuesday 4th November for their customary first meting of the month where we were most excellently entertained by our own member, Brian Teale, who told us all about his 2007 holiday in Peru. It really was a trip of a lifetime very well illustrated with numerous photographs shown with the aid of a multi-media projector so that we felt as if we were there with Brian and Jenny and sharing in their experiences. For some of us this was a blessing in disguise, had we gone along physically the steepness of the slopes and the thin air due to the altitude could well have proved injurious. Many readers may be aware that amongst his many interests Brian has always maintained a fascination with stone and stone-working and one of the facets that attracted him to visit Peru was to see at first hand the workmanship of the Inca stonemasons.
BACKGROUND:
The first thing to be aware of is the convention of the using the term in a generic sense for the race of peoples living in the Andes for thousands of years. For this we can blame the Spanish Conquistadores who invaded the regions in the 16th Century and (thoughtlessly) applied the name of the ruling family to the whole race! It is as if in the far distant future academics studying the British Isles called all us residents of the United Kingdom . Brian explained that the Spanish invaders were only concerned with two things: plunder and religion; they were not concerned with ethnic research although there were some exceptions. In many instances the temples and monuments of the Incas (usually to the Sun) were ruthlessly destroyed or in some cases converted to Catholic Churches: the natives did not fare much better.
A report to King Philip told exaggerated, tales of atrocities inflicted by the natives on their captives, human sacrifice and other disparaging stories all to justify their actions. A letter written by a priest who was part of the expedition gave a true account of the situation to attempt to remedy things but this failed, unsurprisingly, to reach the Spanish authorities; it was found in a library only four years ago!
It is largely down to the work of the American archaeologist Hiram Bingham in the early part of the 20th Century that we now know so much about these peoples and their buildings; it was Bingham who rediscovered the best known Inca citadel of Machu Picchu something the Spanish never did and why it was so well preserved. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and situated 2400meters (7875 ft) above sea level on a ridge over the Urubamba Valley in the Andes 50 miles northwest of Cusco. (Ref: Wikipedia encyclopedia on the Internet)
THE TRIP:
Brian and Jenny first had a long flight to Lima, the capital of Peru, and then had to take a local flight to Cusco (Cuzco) where the Airport, set in a valley has to be approached in a very unnerving, even exciting, manner requiring exceptional skills on the part of the pilot with banked sharp turns to obtain the correct approach. Cusco is a large city, set in the valley of the Urubamba River a tributary of the Amazon was the original capital of the Incas that was sacked by the Spanish.
Now very much geared up to the tourist industry with local men, women and children dressed in native costume, leading domesticated llamas vying for the attention of tourists to sell them Inca artefacts or pose for photographs. This was the breadbasket of the Incas as the valley is well irrigated by the river with very fertile land that extends up the hill sides in a series of terraces and Brian explained their construction and then showed several photographs of the local market where the fruit and veg was on display.
Peru was and still is a region prone to earthquakes and other seismic activity and it is testimony to skill of the Incas that so much of their stonework has survived to the present defying Mother Natures work and the attempts of the Spanish to destroy it. Most of it is granite a very hard and durable material that one wonders how the Incas could work it with so much accuracy without any metal tools, or even move the blocks from their quarries to the building site; apparently although they knew the principal of the wheel they appear not to have made any practical use of it. At Ollayumtambo are the remains of an Inca temple that the Spaniards failed to destroy and we saw photographs that brought home their stone working skills.

A Beatles video game produced by MTV Games will be released in time for the 2009 holiday season.
The partnership is the first time Apple Corps., EMI Music, Harrisongs and Sony/ATV Music Publishing have agreed to present the Beatles' music in a video game presentation. Executives from Apple, MTV and game developer Harmonix announced the game Thursday in London, giving few details beyond the game’s existence, noting further announcements would come in the next few months.
The game will not be part of the Rock Band franchise.
The game is in development, said Jeff Jones, CEO, Apple Corps. We don't want to talk about how it will turn out a year for now. We’re in the process of creating the game.
Game developers will be able to select 45 songs from the Beatles catalog recorded during their 1962 to 1969 tenure within EMI for inclusion in the game.
Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono Lennon have been part of the conversations regarding the design, layout and roll out of the game. Discussions, both creative and financial, between Apple Corps. and MTV began 17 months ago and the first contracts were signed about four weeks ago.
Giles Martin, who produced Beatles Love with his father George, the Beatles' producer, will oversee the music on the release. He emphasized we are trying present the songs as they were played, adhering to the (original) mix.
Neither Jones nor Martin would talk about whether the Beatles music, which has not been touched up or remastered in 20-plus years, would be remastered for the game. The Beatles songs are still not available digitally, to which Jones noted all I can say is we’re still working out the details.
“To me it’s the biggest puzzle and so illogical that the Beatles music is not available for use on MP3 players,” Martin Bandier, CEO and chairman of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, told Daily Variety. “Maybe the fact that this deal is done will offer an impetus to Apple and EMI” to finalize a deal.
Use of the Beatles master recordings have been highly limited over the 38 years since the band called it quits. McCartney, Starr and the widows of George Harrison and John Lennon approved the remixing and reconstructing of the Beatles records for the Cirque du Soleil show and opened the vaults for the film but that's about it.
Use of their songs has become a bit more common, most prominently on two American Idol shows last season and in the films Across the Universe and I am Sam. Sony/ATV handles the music publishing of the vast majority of songs written by Lennon and McCartney.
The music publisher was the last to sign the deal and while no financial figures were released, Bandier said they asked for as much as possible.
“There have been mutterings from artists and songwriters that they are not being offered their fair share in videogames, but the game makers have the leverage,” he said. “In the world of rock there are thousands of tracks that will work but when you get into the world of unique artists that leverage shifts, tremendously, to the artists and songwriters.
“We signed a deal that would be considered very rich by the videogame company but fair for the artists. It will have online implications that will be enormous.”
With the Beatles inking a deal for a video game it leaves one key hold out from the classic rock era, Led Zeppelin. The British hard rock quartet, rumored to be reforming without lead singer Robert Plant, was one of the first acts approached when Guitar Hero was in prototype form. Then, and now, they have rejected uses of their songs in games.
The Rolling Stones moved their post-1970 catalog to Universal Music Group earlier this year and the music conglom said digital was a priority, suggesting a Rock Band game was likely.

Tom Waits. The story was told at lightning-fast speed, lasted some 20 minutes and included humorous anecdotes about riding in the car with Waits (who did woodpecker imitations while driving), jumping barbed-wire fences and chasing the star down a dusty driveway in the middle of nowhere. If Blakesberg took a breath while reliving the moment, it wasn’t apparent.
“That’s a true story,” finished Blakesberg, smiling broadly. “You’ve got to wonder if that kind of (expletive) happens to Tom Waits every day.”
The images of that odyssey, as well as pictures from hundreds of other equally intriguing musical trips, can be found in the photographer’s new career retrospective, “Traveling on a High Frequency: Jay Blakesberg Photographs 1978-2008.” Blakesberg will celebrate the release of this hard cover coffee table book with a signing/party on Tuesday (Nov. 11) at the Independent in San Francisco. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.

Ray LaMontagne is an incredibly convincing soul singer in concert.
Convincing, that is, if you close your eyes.
Although it’s dangerous to judge a book by its cover, it’s certainly tempting to do just that when it comes to this vocalist/acoustic guitarist. LaMontagne (pronounced: la-mon-tain) is a skinny white guy with a shaggy ‘do and a hippie’s beard. He’s 35, but looks 10 years younger, and he wouldn’t appear out of place selling veggie burritos in the parking lot of a Phish show. The kind of music that he makes, however, is nothing like what one might expect from his appearance.
It’s much better.
On Monday night at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, LaMontagne treated a capacity crowd to a mesmerizing 17-song set that contained many different musical elements. Taken collectively, though, nothing described the offering better than soul music.

Halberg Trust win bid to host ISAPA 2011 in Christchurch
30 October 2008: The International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA) has handed New Zealand the honour of hosting the International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity in 2011. The Halberg Trust was confirmed as hosts by the IFAPA Executive Committee.
Established back in 1963 by former Olympic 5000m gold medallist Sir Murray Halberg, the Halberg Trust has grown to become one of New Zealand’s most respected not-for-profit organisations, with the twin aims of honouring sporting excellence and linking people with a disability to sport and active leisure in an inclusive environment.
The Halberg Trust Sport Opportunity Programme has been working at both grass roots and more recently at the national sporting organisation level with the support of policies and strategies. New Zealand is one of the first countries in the world to have a national strategy with disabled people as a focus. The New Zealand Disability Strategy presents a long term plan for changing New Zealand from a disabling into an inclusive society. The vision of the strategy is where disabled people can say they live in “a society that highly values our lives and continually enhances our full participation.”
This is our chance to showcase the work of the Halberg Trust and the disability sector to New Zealanders and the rest of the world, said the CEO of the Halberg Trust, Graeme Taylor, who headed New Zealands bid.
Graeme Taylor says “It is an honour that the international disability community – at the most senior levels – has recognised New Zealand’s efforts over the past few decades, for improving the ability of disabled New Zealanders to lead ordinary lives and by awarding the Trust as hosts for ISAPA in 2011”
Graeme Taylor praised the high calibre of work done by Conventions and Incentives New Zealand Office (CINZ) which helped the Halberg Trust put the bid together for the event through their Conference Assistance Programme.
The Halberg Trust lodged the bid document with the IFAPA board in Turin in early October.
Who made the decision to bid?
This is the Halberg Trust’s bid. The Halberg Trust lodged the bid on the 7 October 2008.
The Trust established that there were compelling reasons why New Zealand should host the ISAPA 2011.
When and where will ISAPA take place?
Monday 4th July – Saturday 9th July 2011 at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch
Why Christchurch?
Christchurch is renowned internationally for its focus and support for people with disabilities. The city is committed to including people of all abilities and providing suitable access to all recreational and community projects. Christchurch is the easiest city in New Zealand for people in wheelchairs and for those with impaired mobility to get around in. There are also very strong disability networks there with KiwiAble, Disabled Snow Sports, Special Olympics, Riding for the Disabled, wheelchair tennis and Parafed Canterbury. Christchurch has also provided a great location for the 4th World Wheelchair Rugby Championships in 2006.
What are the economic benefits to NZ of hosting the event?
The Halberg Trust estimates the tournament is expected to attract over 500 visitors to New Zealand and will generate significant economic benefits for the country. Additional expenditure will come mainly from international visitors purchasing accommodation, hospitality, tourism and travel, which will result in further indirect spending.
What are the reasons behind making a bid?
The Halberg Trust believes it is an opportune time to showcase our practical work in the disability sector and help New Zealand build an academic base in adapted physical activity.
What is the level of support in terms of New Zealand hosting the Symposium?
Letters of support have been received from the Mayor of Christchurch, Prime Minister of New Zealand, Australian Sports Commission and the University of Christchurch demonstrating the breadth of interest and support for hosting ISAPA 2011.
What will be the theme for the Symposium?
APA for an inclusive society
Adaptive Physical Activity in Indigenous Cultures and Isolated and Migrant communities: ensuring the spectrum of opportunities in adapted physical activity are available to all communities promoting the inclusive culture and while celebrating elite opportunities. Using adapted physical activity as a tool for ensuring diversity and inclusion.
What is IFAPA?
International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA) is an international organisation of individuals, institutions and agencies who support, promote and disseminate information about adapted physical activity, disability sport and all aspects of sport, movements and exercise for individuals of all abilities.

Happy Halloween, and I'm frustrated.
I'm particularly annoyed at the internet right now. I'm not sure if its the server, my ibook, youtube, or the videos, but I'm getting extremely slow upload of my concert videos. Some of the videos I've had to restart the upload twice because it stalled at like 89% or less. The first time, I had to shut down the actual electrical/device 'grid' in the living room. At least after I did that, I had full internet and bars. But its been shady on me all night, and I've only managed to get two videos up, and neither are of the actual group I had actually paid money to see. Its been like three hours, and I'm still watching this painful process not get any further along.
Even before this, I was frustrated at Canon for making their digital camera software impossible to find and download. Canon ONLY has updates available for preinstalled transfer software. Its a pain in the ass to use, and the real software is actually on a CD that I didn't have with me (its probably floating around my bedroom somewhere.) Luckily, it was figured out that Image Capture, an existing program I have on my ibook, could transfer the vids. Even still, I was peeved at that company. My older camera reads like an external hardrive when I plug it in. But this newer one? Ha.
I'm frustrated at myself for eating too much Halloween candy. Its a known fact the candy tastes better on Halloween then every other day of the year!
I'm also frustrated at Sims 2: Castaway. I spent hours..HOURS looking for fucking NAILS to make an ocarina, and then found out I had the damn thing made and in my character's stash all that time. Grrrr.
Lastly, and hopefully this is all, but Dlisted.com severly fucked up and left off Frank Iero from their birthday list for today. Fucker. But I still lurv you.

As
if reading juicy details about Madonna and Guy Ritchie's divorce isn't
awkward enough, now the couple has competing movies opening on the same
day.Ritchie has a film about surprise! thugs in
London. Meanwhile, Madonna's directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, is
about working folks in London (which is totally different than thugs).
Now,
given Madonna's infamous history with film (Swept Away, Who's That
Girl?) it would seem that her movie-directing ex would have the upper
hand in the battle for the box office.
But let's not forget Madonna's smarter choices.
Remember
Desperately Seeking Susan and A League of Their Own? Or even the
not-so-terrible which earned her a Golden Globe. For acting.
So, it's not totally incomprehensible that a movie directed by the Material Girl can actually be pretty good.
For
one thing, Madonna made the wise decision not to star in it. Besides a
few songs, she's never on screen. Her name doesn't even pop up until
the closing credits.
Instead, she's turned the spotlight on
Eugene Hutz, the lanky lead singer of the Gypsy-punk band Gogol
Bordello who starred as Alex in Everything Is Illuminated in 2005.
Hutz
plays AK, a grimy, poetry-spouting musician who loves sitting in an
empty bath tub and speaking straight into the camera. The narration is
an annoying and frequently used gimmick, but Hutz is so fun to watch
you forgive it after a while.
Here's where the Madonna stamp
comes in: AK earns a living by acting out erotic fetishes for mostly
homosexual customers. It tries to be shocking, especially with all that
pony play, but it comes across as a bit 1990s.
AK lives with a
ballerina-turned-stripper, Holly (Holly Weston), as well as a
pill-stealing pharmacist, Juliette (Vicky McClure). The dysfunctional
trio deals with their own disturbing issues, but are bonded in
friendship by their lack of money.
Juliette, like Madonna, has an
obsessive desire to help African children, a cause that may or may not
stem from an abusive father. Holly has to learn to be a stripper both
in mind and body, so we're treated to uncomfortable, voyeuristic shots
of her slithering on a pole.
And AK is trying to find his place
as an artist, so he idolizes his blind novelist neighbor. But he mostly
struggles to rid himself of his demons and make it as a musician.
The plot isn't the most earth-shattering stuff, but Madonna makes it so that you're intrigued and interested in her characters.
But
more fascinating is that the most famous person in the world (well,
isn't she?) could have spent tons of money getting A-list actors and
impeccable sets.
Instead, she cast unknowns and gave the film a
gritty, realistic feeling. It can almost be mistaken for one of those
lonely Vincent Gallo films.
As Madonna, she may not live in a
crowded London apartment or visit a neighborhood pharmacy, but she
translated her surroundings in a way that's believable rather than
cartoony (which Ritchie's films tend to be).
Filth and Wisdom
isn't a masterpiece. In fact, most critics hated it. But it's a much
more interesting glimpse of Madonna than those paparazzi shots of yoga
lessons and macrobiotic meals.

SwampDaWamp (pronounced swamp duh wamp), a unique name for an exciting band with an incomparable sound. The brain-child of singer-songwriter-guitarist Gig Michaels, Charlotte, NC's SwampDaWamp is the powerful and creative collaboration of six talented and seasoned musicians: Gig Michaels (lead vocals acoustic guitar); David Lee (drums); Michael Hough (guitar vocals); Keith Inman (guitar); Mike Huffman (keyboards, B3 vocals); and Cody Bennett (bass). Upon hearing their name, most people are immediately curious. It was born accidentally, while frontman Michaels was scatting at the end of a song. The name instantly captured the band's high-spirited rock energy and rootsy vibe, and it stuck. 2007 marked the debut of SwampDaWamp with the release of their self-titled CD (Big Penny Entertainment-Nashville, TN), an infectious blend of rock and blues with a southern flavor, all in support of Michaels' powerful, gravelly voice. It's no wonder music lovers from rock to blues to country fans...from college age to baby-boomers, love this feel-good, high-octane music. At once unique and familiar, a much sought-after but rarely achieved combination; it has struck a chord with fans all over. Since its release, has garnered much critical acclaim. The CD was selected as one of the TOP 23 ALBUMS OF 2007 by Eartaste.com, putting them in the company of such artists as John Fogerty, Rickie Lee Jones, and Ray Davies. It also has received rave reviews from the UK's top music publication, Blues Matters. In addition, they continue to receive radio airplay throughout the country on college, mainstream, internet and are a favorite at XM Satellite Radio. While almost instantaneously becoming known for their free-spirited, sing-and-dance-along live shows, SwampDaWamp has amassed a huge and rapidly growing fan base. Their music touches people of all ages and backgrounds, as evidenced by the over 15,000 My Space friends they have spanning the globe from the U.S. to France to Australia, proving that the feel-good SwampDaWamp sound is universally engaging and contagious. On the heels of their successful debut CD, this year will bring the release of the band's much-anticipated sophomore effort, SWAMPDAWAMP 2.0, which is scheduled for Summer 2008. SWAMPDAWAMP 2.0 will be carried in stores and available for digital download at all major online retailers.

'Who do you think would be the better James BondBarack Obama or John McCain?'
Craig doesnt hesitate. Obama would be the better Bond becauseif hes true to his wordd be willing to quite literally look the enemy in the eye and go toe-to-toe with them. McCain, because of his long service and experience, would probably be a better M, he adds, mentioning Bonds boss, played by Dame Judi Dench. There is, come to think of it, a kind of Judi Dench quality to McCain.
