BAGHDAD – At home, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. has cultivated a kind of regular-guy image.
So perhaps it was fitting that the private cabin in the C-17 cargo plane he flew to Iraq was the kind of rig that regular guys across the United States have coveted for decades: a Silver Bullet Airstream mobile home, the classic aluminum trailer that is an icon of the American roads.
Mr. Biden arrived at Andrews Air Force base at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday for a mission that, like all presidential and vice presidential trips, was shrouded in secrecy. Wearing a navy blue Ralph Lauren polo shirt (collar upturned), blue jeans, a brown leather belt and running shoes, he looked like a man about to go on vacation as he boarded his regular plane, Air Force Two.
But the snazzy Air Force jet took Mr. Biden only part of the way there, to Mildenhall Air Force base in England. There, Mr. Biden, accompanied by aides and a handful of journalists – including George Stephanopolous, the host of the ABC program “This Week’’ – boarded the C-17, where the gleaming Silver Bullet, outfitted with comfy white leather couches and faux teak cabinetry, was strapped and chained to the floor of the plane, looking kind of like a captured spaceship.
Mr. Biden, who walked onto the plane carrying a football (no one was quite certain why) looked at new quarters admiringly. The Silver Bullets are used frequently by the Air Force to transport high-level officials like Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates who need privacy while flying in the big open belly of a cargo plane. Mr. Biden – whose previous trips to Iraq occurred while he was a senator said he had never been in one before. He spent much of the flight holed up with advisers inside; toward the end, he let reporters in for a peek and a few questions.
Mr. Biden landed in Baghdad after dark, and his official duties here will begin on Friday, when he will visit with General Ray Odierno, the top American commander in Iraq, as well as Chris Hill, the ambassador here, and several Iraqi leaders, including Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki.

that allow me to check their rankings across the internet
against my own. I'll just say this, I am not a certified
SEO computer wizard and I don't hold a glitzy degree from
a 4 year or more university. I wish I did, and they had one
better, but I just don't, but it sure does not mean I am
not educated about what I write to you now.I went to Vietnam
on my senior trip, not MIT. And I tell you without reservation,
as you read the material from this companies home page on
Energy Auditor Schooling and Training, who I've given a link
too, out of the goodness of my heart, located at the top of
this blog in the title. I tell you without reservation, I
have earned more money, marketed and financed more renewable
energy projects, trained more truly GREEN sales folks,
phone people, yes and auditors, canvessors, and installers
by accident then these folks have on purpose.
So go ahead and read their material, take their advice, if
you have that engineering degree and you have the time and
money to get "their" certification, I say more POWER to ya..
but, keep this in mind, the rebates in your state, may
not always be as large as they are now, in fact, they
may not even be available by the time your graduated.
I would not have even looked at re-entry into this
business to this degree, had the federal tax credit
programs not been extended (8 yrs) and increased. Also
had McCain been elected, that would have been a deal
breaker for me as well.
Back to the point I'm trying to make here. I do not care
where you live on this Green and Blue Planet, If you take
our audit course, and or (DEC)certification, why not if
you feel you need it, and follow some advice from a Pro,
or get someone that will mentor you that knows this business,
You can earn more money, faster, make a bigger impact on
your families future, your community and your planet then
the best read, best educated, Platnuim L.E.E.D. Certified,
inspected guy or gal, turned out by any of these schools.
In my first year in the business, my company did more
business, than most doctors, and for sure more, than
95% of any attorneys just starting out. And you can
too. Take our training now...Denby Energy, the link is on
the right-hand side of this blog.
The business climate is hot, the government is behind
you, finally, the solar manufacturers have more pro-
duct (3 times more) than they know how to market.
Get your basic training...and I'll teach you how to
about declaring a Renewable Energy War on your compet-
itors, I don't give a good *%^$^ where they went to
school or what cerification they have hanging on
their wall or in their wallet. Sales, Marketing and
Finance is the Dog, They will be your tails.

Good Green Jobs: Clean Energy Careers : Smart Grid Engineer | Energy Commission Specialist | Hydrogen Plant Operator Operations Manager | Refrigeration Engineer | Landfill Gas Plant Operator | Thermal Engineer | Energy Engineer | Energy Auditor | Green IT Professional Consultant |
Becoming an energy auditor is a great opportunity to get a green job. Energy Auditors help companies reduce their energy consumption. They also are used in building and home buying. Certification is very important as well as some education.
If you have a degree in engineering you should look into becoming a certified energy auditor. If you are coming from the auto industry, the work that you have done may qualify for experience. It may give you the background necessary to shift into a new green career.
The association of energy engineers offers a two certification programs that will be vital for you to start this lucrative career. To be a certified energy auditor (CEA) you will need to qualify under these requirements. Have a four year energy or architecture degree, or a 4 year degree with 4 years of experience in this field, or a 2 year technical degree with 5 years of experience. You may choose to be a Certified energy auditor in training (CEAIT) first, this only requires passing the CEA exam and an engineering degree.
You can also qualify if you are a certified Energy Manager (CEM). To be a CEM you need to qualify with any of these; 4 year engineering degree with 3 years experience or 4 year business or related field with 5 years of experience or 2 years of technical school with 8 year experience or 10 years of verified experience.
Once you have these requirements you must take a seminar and the certification exam. Taken together they will run you around $1500. This money is certainly a good investment. If you do not have an engineering degree do not be put off. This job is attainable for anyone who can qualify with experience.

Part Two, McCarty offers a dozen solid pieces of evidence from individuals and agencies inside and outside of DoD that make a solid argument in support of a more accurate and versatile technology Computer Voice Stress Analyzer(R) that realized unprecedented success when used by the U.S. military from 2002 to 2008. Furthermore, he reveals how Americans on the front lines of the War on Terror including active-duty members of the Special Operations community, senior interrogation officials at Guantanamo Bay and others believe the actions of leaders within DoD are doing great damage to our national security by keeping the best equipment available from the war fighters who need it the most in places like Afghanistan, Iraq and GITMO.

I'd like to try to clear some of the confusion that surrounds the economics of wind power, as it is often fed and used by the opponents of wind to dismiss it. As I noted recently, even the basic economics of energy markets are often wilfully misunderstood by commentators, so it's worth going in more detail through concepts like levelised cost and marginal cost, and identify how different electricity producers have different impacts on electricity (market) prices (which may or may not be reflected in retail prices) and have different externalities. Value for society of a generation source may also include other items that are harder to acount in purely monetary terms (and/or whose very value may be disputed), such as the long term risk of depletion of the fuel, or energy security issues, such as dependency on unstable and/or unfriendly foreign countries or vulnerable infrastructure.
Depending on which concept you favor, your preferred energy policies will be rather different. Follow me below the fold for a tour.
The usual disclosure: my job is to finance, among other energy projects, wind farms.

Subj: Recommendations for Dealing with the CIA on Issues of Torture and Abuse
President Obama is displaying ambivalence in handling the issue of torture and abuse. He clearly wants to do the right thing and, as a result, has put a stop to torture and closed down the CIA’s secret prisons where the worst abuses occurred. As a political leader with an extensive policy agenda, however, he wants to limit the investigation of the crimes that were committed in order to avoid a fractious political fight that could compromise his agenda.
The fact is that U.S. and international laws were broken and immoral actions were conducted. Moral and legal issues, unlike political ones, should not be compromised. Pursuing the proper moral course, as opposed to the political course, is central to the identity of President Obama as a leader and to the United States as a nation.
As a result, he must deal decisively with the Bush administration’s use of torture, secret prisons, and extraordinary renditions. The citizens of the United States, indeed the entire international community, know that war crimes were committed and that domestic and international laws were broken. Acts of sadism were committed—not only against those responsible for terrorist activities, but also against innocent victims. We need to establish that these activities were wrong and will never be repeated.

Fall Out Boy frenzy is near
The group plays UCF arena on Wednesday; rapper 50 Cent also is on the bill
By Jim Abbott | SENTINEL MUSIC CRITIC
April 17, 2009
Fall Out Boy, as any respectable pop fan knows, is all about Pete Wentz.
Cobra Starship, one of the opening bands on Fall Out Boy's Believers Never Die, Part Deux Tour, lauded him in its new single "Pete Wentz Is the Only Reason We're Famous," and stories about the band inevitably revolve around the quirks of his daily existence. (Fall Boy Boy plays April 22 at UCF Arena, on a bill that also includes rapper 50 Cent.)
In a cover story in the February edition of Blender, the opening line went like this: "Pete Wentz is a compulsive attention seeker in a way that makes him a perfect rock star and completely annoying. That's why, as he was gaining a wife and a son, he almost lost his band."
From inside the band, however, the level of melodrama isn't always as intense.
"I kind of understand a part of it," soft-spoken drummer Andy Hurley says in a recent phone interview. "It's kind of always been that way on different levels. As we've grown as a band, he's kind of the de facto spokesman and businessman for the band.
"I don't ever really see it or think about it," he says of the media coverage. "Then I read an article like that and it kind of bums me out. He's been my best friend since I was 16. I'm not thinking, 'Oh man, I wish I was in the news.

Posted By: Big Earl:Well hello again to all you good WV people this is Big Earl with an idea to preserve our heritage and offer a olive branch to the tree huggers to. I would like to advise the state of WV to comission a tree hugger film crew to go to Blair mountain WV in logan county and film every inch of it before it gets blown up and mined. It could be just like when those college boys a few years ago filmed the Blair cemetary for that documentary, when they got lost and was never seen or heard from again. Maybe the ghost of old 2 Gun Sid Hatfield or Devil Ance might be roaming around some night when the hippies are there and be a little restless. Hey hippie…BOO! You could show it on PBS to make sure the most amount of people in the state would see it, and it would be free with no sattelite. I saw on the news where one of our largest surface mines in WV closed and this is a shame. The article said production had stopped and a skeleton crew was running the mine, and no, you tree hugger hippies from OVAC this does not mean they are throwing a Halloween party, it means another mine is gone, no coal is being mined, and hundreds of good WV citizens and there families are out of work. This is a shame people we are going to end up with none or very few of our coal mines working and then this is just like a leaky pipe it trickles down on everything else. So not only are the miners out of work it hits the truck driver, the mechanic, the railroad, the parts maker, etc…etc… some of you people need to seriouisly ponder where your lights come from it is not that switch on the wall that produces electric it is coal burning at a power plant mined by good WV coal miners when of course tree huggers leave them alone and let them do there jobs.

This shit ruled so hard. Say what you want about what Bendis' Avengers books eventually turned into, but the opening arc on New Avengers was near-perfectly executed. Everything about this issue just got me completely fucking psyched for this book.
The first thing we see is lame-duck Spider-Man villain Electro. Mark Millar had recently used him to great comedic effect in his run on Marvel Knights Spider-Man, and Bendis ran with that sleazy, diminutive characterization here. A consistent strength of New Avengers is it's ability to use characters from all corners of the Marvel U as bit players, adding color to the storyline instead of unecessary plot elements. In the past, writers would feel like it was necessary to justify Electro's involvement in the storyline by bringing up shit from his pointless, forgotten backstory, or saddling him with some kind of new modus operandi that eats up page time and confuses the plot. Here, Bendis cuts right to the chase - dude needs money, so he shows up for six pages to do what he needs to do to get the money. We don't need to know anything more about Electro than that he is a douchebag in a suit with pretty self-explanatory powers.
Owing to the success of his less conventionally comic-booky runs on Ultimate Spider-Man and Daredevil, Bendis has complete free reign here to dedicate page space to character interactions and jokes instead of overly complex plot lines. A common criticism of dude is that his books are too talky, but it's the character moments that make this book shine. Marvel at Captain America and Iron Man eating bagels together on the railing of a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier, talking wistfully about old times. Bendis masterfully manipulates our emotions, often knowing exactly what to emphasize for the greatest impact. When Captain America reaches his hand out to Spider-Man after a helicopter crash, it's a splash page that we see from Spider-Man's point of view. In any other case it's an odd scene to dedicate so much page space to, but here it works beautifully, because we as readers want to see as much of it as possible. We want it to be a splash page because that's how fucking happy we are to see Captain America again.
The first arc serves as a set-up to two of the major storylines of the series so far. Though Secret Invasion as a proper mini-series was sort of a letdown, it's still endlessly fascinating to look back and see the clues that Bendis had been leaving since the first issue. When Wolverine first runs across Jessica Drew in the Savage Land, he attacks her, because he doesn't recognize her scent. Years later, when she's revealed as a skrull, a nation of nerds slap their own foreheads. DURRRR.
The lineup of New Avengers featured, in a line-wide effort to introduce more new characters in their books, a little known dude called The Sentry who'd starred in his own fifth-week event written by Paul Jenkins a few years before. The Sentry was the perfect MacGuffin for the first arc - even if you HAD read the Sentry mini, you had no idea what to expect from this book. Bendis integrated him beautifully into the Marvel Universe - he gave you just enough details during the first arc to satisfy you, still laying the groundwork for a future storyline. All you knew about him was that he was this incredibly powerful superhero who was imprisoned, for some reason, in a Maximum Security prison for killing his wife.
What little you saw of the Sentry in action was tantalizing and fascinating - his one major action sequence involved him forcefully dragging Carnage into space and then ripping him in half. Marvel was a viscerally exciting place at this point in time - there were new characters and new concepts everywhere - though Cap, Spidey, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, and Iron Man were familiar faces, you'd never seen them in situations like this before, and you'd never seen them all together. New characters like the Sentry were undiminished by years of continuity, and not beholden to any existing corner of the Marvel U. It wasn't just Spider-Man playing in the FF sandbox or The Avengers playing in the X-Men sandbox. It was a totally new place, which drew from the richer tapestry of the complete Marvel Universe. Within six issues, you had Foggy Nelson from the Daredevil book, S.H.I.E.L.D. political intrigue, the Savage Land, and Luke Cage beating up Electro outside a Bistro in Massachussetts.
Normally, this kind of interaction between the disparate spheres of Marvel was limited to What If? stories and alternate futures. But here it was - instead of a bunch of wildly different and wildly insular books, the Marvel U felt like a living, breathing, cohesive thing. It was awesome.

The Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance, a group that advocates for more freeways and wider roads as the top transportation priority throughout NoVa, sent an email summarizing the results of a recent MWCOG study. They claim that the study shows that more people drive, while fewer walk, bike and ride public transit. However, in a very long footnote, the email admits that, actually, the data show the exact opposite. Here's the email. The table claims driving increased from 81.3% of trips to 83% between 1994 and 2007/2008. The footnote, however, states that, "The geographical boundaries of the 2007/2008 and 1994 studies differ slightly. When the 1994 boundaries are used for both samples, the 2007/2008 results" show auto use declining to 80.3%. The actual results from the survey, the Household Travel Study, are very interesting. Transit is up significantly in suburban jurisdictions, especially Prince George's (where it went from 10.8% of trips to 18.6), Prince William (5.2% to 10.2%), Frederick (1.5% to 5.8%) and Charles (1.4% to 6.4%) Counties. Prince George's got several new Metrorail stations, including the Blue Line extension to Largo and final Green Line segment to Branch Avenue during that time period. DC added Georgia Avenue, Columbia Heights, and New York Avenue, though perhaps while it's added many residents who take transit, the residents in those areas previously mostly took buses before. The region also increased its miles of bus service by 67%, presumably mostly in outer suburban jurisdictions.

Its been a bit of a mixed bag this week, Ive put a few decent sessions together but Ive really felt dead legged and lethargic. I guess its two weeks of hard training catching up with me.
My rest day was Monday but I still ended up walking to work and back which is a total of 7 miles, which probably isnt the best policy for resting your legs. Tuesday morning I went to the gym and noticed they were doing called the gym triathlon..well I couldnt resist. The first leg was rowing 2000m on the concept 2, I managed that easily and I beat the best time by about 20 seconds before moving onto the treddie to run a mile. I was pleasantly suprised to bang out a mile in 6:03 which again was about 30 seconds fater than the next guy. Can you tell my competative juices were flowing? Finally I jumped onto the bike and did a mile in 2:30. So at the moment Im leading that little competition, just a bit of fun really.
Tuesday night I went along to the Masters swimming session, it was a tough workout, by the end of it my legs were certainly aware theyd worked hard. It must have done me good.
Wednesday was a big running day as I put in 10 miles in 1:20, again I felt strong and felt I could have continued running. My legs again didnt thank me on Thursday morning though ! They were repayed with a repeat of Tuesdays swimming session before work. After work I met up with Lesley and we went along to the athletic club to do a pyramid session ( 1min, 2 min, 3 min, 2 min, 1 min repeat twice with the same rest in between sets ). I was running strongly and my calf held up well as myself and fellow COLT Dave Worthington were pushing each other hard. By the end of the session I was all in, not quite ready to throw up but getting there. I tret myself to a rest day on Friday, well I manged to wreck my thumbs fitting a new continental gator skin tyre. It had all the flexibility of steel and there was no way I could get the bloody thing on the wheel without the tyre levers as recommended.Ive not actually heard of nayone yet being able to do that ?? I had fitted new rim tape and it seemed to have cured my puncture problems of the previous week.
I was up at 6am on Saturday morning and left the house at 6:40 to meet up with the COLT A riders. It was unbelievably cold. Capt. Richard had turned up with his new bike and he set a blistering pace from the start. The other 6 riders had dropped me within 1/2 a mile and I was doing 19 mph, I just couldnt get my legs to work. By the time wed gone past Caton they were out of sight and I was on my own cycling into a strong biting head wind, it was tough. The ride was up to Sedbrough, across to Hawes and then back via Ingleton. I got upto Kirkby Lonsdale and turned round. Id managed to get 32 miles in but felt wiped out - Ive since heard the ride back was like a time trial with average speeds on the flat of 25mph. A bit demoralising to get dropped so easily and it brought it home to me that the A riders are in a different class to me BUT it gets me out training and it can only make me stronger in the long run.
Sunday I met Andy and the rest of COLT for the B and C ride. Set off well but as we left Caton towards Quernmore Andy had problems with his mudguard catching and his gears slipping. He urged me to go on but I owe him many favours of domestique type support so I stayed and held his bike whilst he did running repairs. We were dropped by the group and worked hard to catch up, the B riders had gone over the steep Bowland Tower but without his gears there was no way Andy could attempt it. We caught up to the C group and explained we were going to head off on our own and thats what we did. We took in Forton, Scorton before heading through Garstang and back through Pilling and Cockerham. By the time I got home Id gotten 40 miles in, making 72 miles in total for the weekend. I was totally wiped out though and fell asleep on Sunday afternoon totally drained. I feel a bit more energetic today, thankfully its a rest day and Ive done nothing. Back to it tomorrow and the swimming will hopefully not be too bad.
Heard from Andy today and his bike problems on Sunday were caused by his back wheel not being locked to the bike properly, his quick release lever was open ! Could have been a lot worse than just gears slipping.
So it was another decent week but by the end of it I was wiped out, Ive got to get the balance right and have a good week this week but end up on Sunday in one piece.
Congratulations to my cousin Mike who had a great run at the Coniston 14 road race continuing his comeback from major achilles surgery by finishing 86th in 1:35:08. A great effort, well done Mike.

The famous Meg Ryan orgasm scene from the movie When Harry Mat Sally mistakenly leads one to believe that the intense pleasure produced from sexually climaxing persists for a long time. In actuality orgasms typically last anywhere from a few seconds to less than a minute. And generally speaking, the female orgasm endures just a tad bit longer than male orgasm; however the difference between the sexes is an average of seconds.
Even the science community screams with euphoric conviction that it pays to orgasm. A 1997 study in the British Medical Journal found that men who had fewer orgasms were twice as likely to die of any cause as those having two or more orgasms a week.
And a follow-up segment in 2001 which focused more specifically on cardiovascular health found that having sex three or more times a week was associated with a 50% reduction in the risk of heart attack or stroke. So were Meg and her hilarious performance trying to tell us something?
Is there a method which allows the culmination of sexual arousal to last longer.

Name these times
By Aaron J. Brown
The Great Depression. The Crusades. The Dark Ages. The Renaissance. And, of course, the Iron Range Recession of the 1980s (known locally by one pseudo-word: ).
These terms describe historic periods of great significance to varying numbers of people. The Crusades represent the roundabout reason there is strife in the Mideast. The Iron Range economic crunch of the 1980s is the roundabout reason there are now more Iron Rangers living in the Twin Cities than who live here now. I dont have to explain much for some of you to experience some spark of awareness or emotion when you see these descriptions.
We know what were in. Its a recession and certain indicators show that it might be more. Nevertheless, a TV news commentator might breathlessly declare todays economic conditions as being like the Great Depression, while another describes them in terms of Japans Lost Decade. Thats a favorite of mine; most Americans didnt know that Japan lost a decade in the 1990s but today the guy who orders parts for your department is talking about it like hes a Nobel laureate economist. While aspects of the Depression, the Lost Decade or the period in the late 1800s where Americas economy stagnated for two decades might hold relevance, today is different.
In all cases, the numbers are larger. Budgets are vaster. Everyday people are more connected to the stock market than ever. And yet, government programs like education, transportation and health care are part of the fabric of society now. The very nature of how people live their lives, buy and sell their goods and define a good living has changed. I can transmit a video from here to most places on Earth in a few minutes. If I lost my job tomorrow I could still do that. Todays economy is relatively terrible, demands correction, but no one is selling apples on street corners.
With the omnipresent information demands of the internet and cable TV channels, media professionals have to fill more time and muscle out more competition. Thinking and doing research is hard; so, instead, we talk. If no one listens, we talk louder and if we talk loud enough we get on TV. Just as water always takes the path of least resistance, todays writers (including myself) often take the easy way out. And that includes describing the events of today as being just like the events of some readily recognizable event of the past. The similarities between the present and past are vitally important, but the differences are what define our time on this Earth.
For instance, the Dark Ages terms a long period in European history as a time limited to disease, wars and slow social development. Conversely, the following Renaissance, literally translated as describes the time when European society expanded the arts and sciences, welcoming an age of reason to the vicious world known before. Historians will tell you these descriptions remain only partly true. Historic developments were achieved during the Dark Ages and both eras saw rampant public defecation. The similarities were great, but the fact remains: one had to follow the other. Each represented part of a string of vital, but incomplete progress.
Ive heard many relatives, friends and colleagues describe the downturn at local Iron Range taconite mines as being just like those we saw in the 1980s. In that taconite plants are experiencing layoffs and shutdowns, the similarities are thick. In that mustaches and mullets are somewhat less fashionable, and that Iron Range mines have modernized a great deal since the 1980s, the similarities dont hold water. I dont say this to give the many worried families of the Iron Range unjustified confidence. Rather, I contest that we are all in this together for a new era that combines the truth of the past with the unknown of the future.
These times deserve a new name.
